Project 1825 Reboot

OK, here we go again. Once again I am starting Project 1825. 1,825 is the approximate number of days in five years, which is the amount of time I’ve given myself to get out of my current job and into a career as a professional artist/photographer. Project 1825 is my way of encouraging myself to practice and develop the skills I will need to accomplish those goals. My rules for the project are simple; I have to post at least one photograph every day of the week except Sunday, which is the day when I will have to present a finished piece of art. Notice I said photograph, not picture. Anyone can take pictures, just take a look at Facebook. I am trying to create photographs of a professional quality. That means (to me) really focusing on composition, lighting, colors or monochrome, as well as subject matter, both while taking the shot and in post production. I also will be (as time permits) showing my setups and shots SOOC, so anybody with comments or (helpful) critiques are welcome to give me some pointers.

Today’s photograph is of one of my favorite things; caramel apples! Yum! Here is the setup:

So my lighting was sunlight through the window on the left and the pop up flash on the camera with my Pringles can flash extender/diffuser. The black foamboard was to eliminate light reflections from the living room window. Here is the straight out of camera shot:

After many adjustments, here is the final product:

Exposure: 1 sec;   f/6.3;   ISO 100;  70mm; Pentax K5 with Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG Macro

As always, comments welcome.
