Project 1825, Day 8

For the next mini-project I have decided to do colors. The rules of engagement are as follows: the color will be chosen randomly each day for the six days from a collection of 100 Crayola crayons. The subject (or subjects) must be chosen from objects within the house or on the property, but cannot include the crayon that was selected for the day. Let’s get started!

Today’s color: WHITE!

First up, a white paper towel and some white rocks from the driveway…

Tech Info: 1/60 sec, f2.8, ISO 100                                                                                  Tech Info: 1/15 sec, f10, ISO 200

Right away I begin to see that things that look “white” to our eyes on an everyday basis, often aren’t truly white. Next up, some average toilet paper…good thing the color of the day wasn’t brown!

Next, milk drops. Now, I know there are better shots of drops all over the internet, but remember that I don’t have any fancy lights, lightstands, remote releases, or actually anything that would have made this easier. These were taken with one hand on the camera to shoot and one hand holding an eyedropper with milk over a tub of milk.

And lastly, more milk. When I poured the milk into the bowl, it just happened to make bubbles that just happened to sort of outline the shape of a heart…sort of…if you look really hard.

Tech Info: 1/320 sec, f5, ISO 100

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s color is! Have a great day and God bless.

  1. Very interesting concept. The textures of common things can be amazing.
