Botanical Butterbees and Bumbleflies

Well, the Desert Botanical Gardens were a bit disappointing from a floral perspective, but you can’t really fault the plants. Summers here are hard on them. There were a ton  of photographers at the Gardens this morning, most with those 3-foot long lenses on camera bodies that probably cost more than my car, but there wasn’t much photography taking place. Almost everything living there had died, with the exception of these guys…

…who seemed to be everywhere. I can only assume that they were desperately pollinating in the hopes of restoring the Gardens to their springtime glory. I did manage to shoot a couple of my finely petaled friends and their winged caretakers…

I will have to return to the Gardens in a month or so and see if anything is making a recovery. Hopefully something will be blooming and I won’t have to wait until spring. Thanks for looking, and God bless.
